Cloverpaw sat at the base of a huge tree, waiting for Tigerstar, her mentor to arrive. It was such an honor for the clan leader to be training you, and Cloverpaw was extremely eager to learn all the hunting and fighting skills she could. About a half a moon ago, Cloverpaw had caught her first prey. She remembers dancing around happily while dragging the vole she had caught. But now, Cloverpaw was much more mature. She didn't dance around like a clumsy kit when she caught prey, instead she'd just have a huge smile on her face when she put her catch on the fresh-kill pile.
Cloverpaw twitched her tail back and forth, looking through the treeless territory for Tigerstar. "I hope he's here soon." she mumbled impatiently.

Tigerstar stalked out of his Den and into the Clearing. Wasn't much activity going on, As Tigerstar scanned the Camp he came across his Apprentice, Cloverpaw, waiting for him under the huge tree. "Darn it! I forgot!" Tigerstar meowed to himself as he broke out into a sprint, But before he approached her he changed back into a slow stalk. Tigerstar could tell she was excited for her first day of training with him. "Cloverpaw, How long have you been waiting here?" Tigerstar looked deeply into her eyes as he spoke. "Well, What are you waiting for? Let's go hunting." Tigerstar yowled. Tigerstar took training Apprentices very seriously.

Cloverpaw saw Tigerstar running toward her before changing into a slower pace. It seemed like Tigerstar forgot all about the training today!
"I haven't been waiting here for a long time." Cloverpaw meowed, in response to Tigerstar's question. It was true, in fact she had been only waiting for a few moments before her mentor had arrived.
Once Tigerstar suggested to go hunting, Cloverpaw kept her ears and eyes alert for the sound and sight of prey. She walked quietly around the treeless territory, hardly daring to breath in case she frightened prey. Her ears pricked up as she heard the quiet sounds of a mouse scurrying around in a bramble thicket. Cloverpaw quickly dropped into a hunter's crouch, as she learned before from her mentor. then, ever so slowly she stalked forward, putting one paw in front of the other. Once she was close enough, she leaped. Too far! To Cloverpaw's displeasure, she was too far when she leaped. Causing the mouse to hear her and run off. "I jumped too soon!" she said sadly, as she walked back over to her mentor.

Tigerstar watched her with anger in his eyes. "Cloverpaw! Who taught you to hunt!?! Because they need to be taught as well!" He yowled. His fur was bristling, "Cloverpaw, How are we supposed to feed our Clan when the Warriors of the future can't even hunt?" He meowed with a little bit of a softer tone. "I liked your form, yes you did jump too soon." Tigerstar was looking in her eyes. "Here, I'll show you the 'proper' way to hunt." With that he stood absolutely still and let everything come to him, He heard a little scurry. He jerked his head around, and saw a mouse looking for a place to hide. Tigerstar had hunger in his eyes, He dropped into the hunter's crouch and slowly stalked over to the mouse. He was almost there, He put one paw out in front and quickly came down with force and broke the mouses neck. He then picked it up in his mouth, and walked over to Cloverpaw, He dropped it at her feet. "Now, next time, Try and actually catch it." He snapped. He didn't like screw ups, Not even on first tries.

Cloverpaw bowed her head with shame as Tigerstar scolded her. Wow, he is really strict. she thought, still ashamed of herself from missing the catch. But I won't show weakness! I'll show him I'll be a great warrior... Cloverpaw watched in awe as Tigerstar hunted the mouse. She saw how close he was from the mouse, but out of sight. "Sorry Tigerstar." Cloverpaw mumbled as Tigerstar dropped his catch in front of her. I'm going to be the worst hunter ever! she realized. That all looked so hard!
Cloverpaw pricked up her ears for the sound of prey, for the second time. She stalked through the forest, being careful not to trip over any branches. After a while, Cloverpaw finally heard the sounds of a vole looking around for it's den. She instinctively dropped into a hunters' crouch, and stalked over to the vole. The vole was very plump, but it looked old. When Cloverpaw though she was close enough to leap, she did and the vole tried running away. The vole was old and stupid though, and it ran right into Cloverpaw's paws. She bit down on it's neck and brought it over to Tigerstar. "I've got one!" she mumbled around the vole. "How'd I do?"

Tigerstar watched her the second time, and wasn't impressed. He watched her catch it with ease, but only because the Vole wasn't young and keen. "You did okay, but you could do better. The only reason you caught it was because it was old and didn't know where it was going, and you know it." He meowed in kind of a mocking voice. Tigerstar looked at the Vole and how plump it was, "But nice catch, Im proud of you." He meowed in a gentle tone. "Anyways I think that is enough hunting for today, What do you say some battle training, or you could go change the Elder's moss beds. They need some new moss." Tigerstar stared blankly into the sky.

Cloverpaw smiled at Tigerstar's praise about the plump vole she had caught, even if it was really old and didn't know what it was doing. As Tigerstar announced that she could either learn some battle training or clean moss dens, Cloverpaw pricked her ears up in surprise. She had thought they'd just be hunting a lot today, but battle training would be much better! And much, much more fun than boring old hunting. "Battle training! Yes!" she meowed with delight, dancing around the Huge Tree like a kit let out of the Nursery for the first time. Thinking better of herself, Cloverpaw stopped dancing and walked back over to Tigerstar. In a much more mature tone she said, "what moves are you gonna teach me?"

Tigerstar admired the excitement in his young Apprentice. "There's alot to cover. How bout I let you choose from these: Fake Roll, Tail Trip or Jump Kick?" Tigerstar wanted to jump right into to battle training, but he knew she hadn't had much time to learn alot of moves so he had to start with the basics. Tigerstar remembered his first day of training, his mentor rushed him into everything and Tigerstar had to learn it or he wouldn't survive. Tigerstar started at Cloverpaw, "She's ambitious, She will make a great warrior in time. And she's remarkably beautiful." Tigerstar thought to himself. He loved his Clan, and he was training the future of his Clan. Tigerstar had to work hard.

"All three!" Cloverpaw said, smiling wide. She wanted to learn as many moves as she could, so she could be a great warrior when she was older. Cloverpaw squirmed with excitement, she was eager and impatient to begin learning battle moves. "Tail Trip seems fun!" she meowed enthusiastically. "I think I've heard of it before! Don't you trip an opponent with your tail when they're running past you? Then you leap on them, like this?" Cloverpaw dropped into a crouch, the leaped at a nearby bramble thicket, pretending it was an enemy cat. Once she demonstrated she turned around to face Tigerstar, waiting for a reply.

Tigerstar loved Cloverpaw's eagerness. "Well, I think we might and I mean might, be able to do all three." He said trying to not get her to excited. He was taken back at her knowledge of a move he hasn't even talked about yet. "Well, Tail Trip can mean two things. What you said and when you Leap at your opponent, but right when you get close, swerve so that you land beside thier tail. Bite down hard on thier tail, then run with lightning speed around them, tripping them and leaving thier belly exposed. Claws unsheathed" Tigerstar explained, his face the very definition of serious. "Why don't you try on me?" He spoke with determination in his eyes. "Except with claws sheathed." He pointed out.

Cloverpaw listened to Tigerstar eagerly and intently. She pictured the move in her head, imagining that there was a fight going on, and that she was face to face with a nameless enemy cat. She pictured herself leaping at the cat, then at the last momeny, swerving to avoid it's razor sharp claws. After all of that, she imagined biting down hard on the cat's tail, sending the yowling cat off in a different direction. "Okay." she said slowly. She looked at Tigerstar, seeing the best direction to attack him from. She walked around in a circle a couple of times, then without warning she leaped on him.

Tigerstar judged her moves by the way she was walking toward him. Then without warning she jumped on him, He didn't struggle to throw her off, He steadied himself and stopped moving. Then without hesitating he flung himself back onto the ground pounding her into the ground. Tigerstar rolled around with force waiting for his apprentice to let go. He growled, and hissed. "Wow, She's really determined he thought to himself. She really wants this." He thought to himself. He had a new found respect for Cloverpaw. Tigerstar couldn't wait to teach her all the moves, but then he focused back at the task at hand. He had to teach her a lesson.

Cloverpaw leaped off of Tigerstar, and she quickly pretended to bite down on his tail. Then, she turned around and face Tigerstar, breathing deeply. "So...how'd...I...do?" she asked between breaths.
Cloverpaw hoped she had done good at her first battle technique, but it was pretty easy. Tigerstar was probably just teaching her the basics first, then later on she'd probably learn more advanced moves. Cloverpaw looked forward to her first battle, she'd finally get to prove herself a loyal and strong warrior. Cat's always told stories about past battles, and they all seemed interesting, but painful at the same time.

Tigerstar stared at her with admiration. "Well..Cloverpaw.. Im really impressed. I think we can learn one more move. How bout jump kick?" Tigerstar meowed with pride. "Jump kick is If an opponent is charging at you this move comes in handy. Stand lightly on your paws and wait for the opponent to come close. Once your opponent is nearly at you, launch yourself high into the air. Try to land on you opponent's back and give a powerful kick with your hind-legs. It can be hard at times, and takes alot of power, but it's a good way to surprise you enemies. Can also be used for if you leap from a tree and ambush you opponent from atop." Tigerstar wanted her to learn this move. He was already impressed with her, He thought she would do great at this.

Cloverpaw listened intently and eagerly again to Tigerstar. This time she imagined an enemy charging at her. The enemy was getting closer and closer, and once it was close enough to strike, Cloverpaw imagined herself leaping into the air with her powerful hindlegs, landing directly on the enemies back, kicking at it with her hind-legs with her sharp claws out.
"Okay." Cloverpaw meowed, circling around Tigerstar once again. She didn't let her eyes betray where she was going to strike, and pretended that Tigerstar was running after her. She came closer to him, standing lightly on her paws. Then she launched herself forward into the air, landing directly on Tigerstar's back.
